The tie is a symbol of gentlemanliness. You don’t want to get in a physical altercation while wearing a tie. My friend was a bouncer in Minneapolis at a biker bar, and he was able to use a car salesman's tie to slam his knee into his face repeatedly. He almost died and was disfigured for life after my friend got a hold of his tie.
