Did you know eBay gangstalked and harassed an elderly couple? eBay was involved in a harassment campaign against an elderly couple, David and Ina Steiner, who published a newsletter about the e-commerce industry. In 2019, several eBay employees and contractors, frustrated with the content of the Steiners' newsletter, orchestrated a harassment campaign. This campaign included sending disturbing deliveries to the Steiners' home, such as live spiders, cockroaches, a funeral wreath, and a bloody pig mask. The employees also sent threatening messages on social media, published the Steiners' address online with invites for sexual encounters, and even traveled to their home to surveil them and attempt to install a tracking device on their car. eBay itself was charged with various crimes, including stalking, witness tampering, and obstruction of justice. In January 2024, eBay agreed to a deferred prosecution agreement and paid a $3 million criminal penalty. As part of the agreement, eBay committed to retaining a corporate compliance monitor for three years and enhancing its compliance program.
